Timothy M. Schell, P.T.

Timothy M. Schell was born and raised in Sharpsville, PA. During his youth, Tim was involved in sports and enjoyed the competitiveness and camaraderie that accompanies athletics. After graduating from Sharpsville Area High School, Tim furthered his education at Slippery Rock University majoring in Biology. It didn't take Tim long to decide that Physical Therapy was his calling and after graduation from "The Rock" in 1974, Tim received his certification in Physical Therapy from Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, 1976.

Tim's first job was at Pattie A. Clay Infirmary, Richmond, KY from 1976 through 1977. His next position was with Grove City United Community Hospital in 1977 where he was the Director of Physical Therapy for six years. It was while he was holding that position that he noticed a need in the Grove City area for an outpatient physical therapy clinic. In 1983 Tim founded TMS Physical Therapy to be on the cutting edge in treatment for patients of all ages who were hurting and in need of rehabilitation. Around the same time, Tim founded the sports medicine program for Grove City Area School District and provided care for 20 years to the high school athletes and continues rehabilitating many of the area's athletes. Today, TMS Physical Therapy is the frontrunner of this profession in the Grove City area, employing 20 full time personnel. The size of this facility has grown from 1200 square feet to 7200 square feet including the area's only therapeutic pool. Wow, not bad for starting out with just an idea!! TMS has been able to grow because of Tim's compassion, gentleness and kindness that also shine in the people he employs. Some may think Tim is a perfectionist, however, isn't that the kind of Therapist you want working with you?

Tim has never been satisfied with sitting still and now owns two physical therapy clinics and is in partnership with five other clinics in the northwest PA area. When not practicing physical therapy full time, Tim can be found at workshops and conferences fine tuning his skills. In December 2004, Tim received his Direct Access License that allows him to evaluate and treat a patient in physical therapy without a referral from the patient's primary physician for up to 30 days. There is never a time when Tim is not learning. According to Tim, "when you feel you have nothing more to learn, then it is time to retire". Tim is a member of American Physical Therapy Association, Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association, Northwest Physical Therapy District and the Physical Therapy Provider Network. He is also an Adjunct Faculty of Gannon University in Erie PA. Tim has managed to balance his career with raising two grown sons whom both have their own successful careers. If he has any spare time, you may see Tim on the local links, as he is an enthusiastic golfer.

We are glad that you decided to come to TMS Physical Therapy and we know that you will not find better care or a better staff at any other clinic. Sit back and relax, you are going to "Experience the Healing Touch".
